Don’t be Afraid of Change

Dont be Afraid of Change 269x350 Dont be Afraid of Change

Women have the opportunity to make a BIG difference and change things NOW! We are a majority, coveted demographic and powerful economic force.

52% of the work force
60% of college students
66% of global spending
51.3 % of global wealth
starting businesses 2 to 1
51% of all management, professional positions in US

So why are we still so afraid to change and step up?

In the Maddy Dychtwald book Influence-she documents the findings of a 3000 male and female random US survey, done with financial services company Allianz and Harris Interactive to answer some questions on gender, money and power.

The findings?

Money means security to women, freedom to men.

Men see themselves as warriors, women as worriers.

Women put the financial needs of others ahead of their own.

The results (US)  indicated confidence, leadership, autonomy and independence are all tied into their financial freedom. At this point women have a lot of ground to make up, but the future looks VERY bright.

Dychtwald calls women “a sleeping giantess” of collective  untapped economic power fully awakened”.  She goes on to say, “the speed of the jouney is up to women”.

I couldn’t agree more with regard to women taking full responsibility to hone their skills, develop their leadership qualities, express their voice , step up and speak up.

Women are afraid because of socialization. It is time to step out and move on from that old model.

Women can use their feminine energy, emotional intelligence, intuition and heart to lead. It begins with girls and continues with women of all ages.

What can and should we do?

  • Invest and encourage financial education and professional skill development
  • Support women in business and politics
  • Mentor young women and older women in transition
  • Empower men to help build a “we” world
  • Use social platforms to share ideas and information about efforts for women to help themselves

WE can accelerate the shift and learn along the way how to empower ourselves to be ready for leadership, success and financial independence.

This is NOT a feminist post. It is about more equality and opportunity for women and men to be equal partners and stewards of the future.

We are not arriving. We are here and we’ve been here.

We are simply shifting to our rightful place as 50% of the worlds citizens who now have a majority of the economic power!

Empower yourself NOW, step up and Don’t be Afraid of Change!
